With the development of gastrointestinal endoscopy technology, the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early cancer of the digestive tract has been paid more and more attention. Endoscopic resection technologies represented by EMR and ESD have emerged as the times require. EMR/ESD technology has been widely used in the treatment of precancerous lesions and early canceration of digestive tract.
EMR is Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, which is to treat flat and raised lesions (early gastrointestinal cancer, flat adenoma) and wide-based sessile polyps through endoscopic measures (injection and suction) to make the lesions and their inherent layers separation to become pseudo-pedicle polyps, and then trap or electro cutting technique.
ESD is Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection. It is developed on the basis of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), mainly for early gastrointestinal cancer and precancerous lesions.
